Working out Alone
Do you find it difficult to exercise on a regular basis? Perhaps you dislike going to the gym or at-home workout videos. Perhaps you've never enjoyed exercising and find it tedious.
You're not by yourself. According to some research, genetic factors may cause some people to respond differently to exercise. For example, a person may not experience the same endorphin rush, rendering exercise less rewarding to the brain.
Before you blame your genes or give up, remember that you can still overcome your difficulties and even learn to enjoy exercising. Working out does not have to involve going to the gym, lifting weights, navigating complicated machines, or running in the park. You should enjoy exercising because it makes you feel better both physically and emotionally.
Tips to fight exercise boredom

1. Increase or decrease the intensity of your workout. Increasing the intensity of some of your moves is another way to spice up your workout routine. You can incorporate intervals or high-intensity periods in which you exert maximum effort for short bursts followed by a short recovery period. Incorporating high-intensity moves can also help your exercises burn fat more effectively. You can incorporate the high-intensity approach into either cardio or strength training workouts.
Another option is to turn your workout into a circuit. This method can also help your workout go faster. A circuit workout consists of performing four or five exercises consecutively with no breaks in between. You then take a minute or two to rest. Finally, you repeat the circuit a few times more. When putting together a circuit, try to include both upper and lower body exercises to get a full-body workout.
2. Create a Workout Network . Find a workout partner if at all possible. You and your workout buddy will be more motivated to exercise on a regular basis. When you don't feel like exercising, you'll have someone to push you, which can make your workouts more enjoyable.
When looking for a workout partner, look for someone with similar goals, commitment level, and schedule to make it easier to schedule time to exercise together. You are not required to work out together every time. You could agree to exercise together once a week and then check in throughout the week to ensure you both followed through on the other days.
3. Change Up Your Regular Routine One of the quickest and easiest ways to overcome workout boredom is to try a new exercise or activity. Try new equipment or a new exercise class if you work out at a gym. You might enjoy the activity and incorporate it into your routine.
If you work out at home, try a new online course or a completely different type of exercise. There are so many different activities to choose from that you're sure to find something new to try. You could even try getting a new piece of equipment or doing your home workout outside. Try a new route if you

Changing up your routine not only prevents boredom, but it can also benefit your body and mind. When you perform the same tasks in the same manner, your body adapts to the activity and becomes more efficient.
4. Try doing your regular exercises in novel ways.
Do you do the majority of your cardio workouts on a treadmill? On strength training days, you might lift free weights. To mix things up, try performing some of your regular exercises in new ways or with different equipment.
For example, try running backward on the treadmill or going in reverse on the elliptical for a minute (safely—use the handrails and slow down if necessary). You'll be working various muscles in various ways. You'll have to concentrate on this unusual task, which engages your brain and makes you more present during your workout.
If you always use the same weights for your weight training exercises, try a new activity or a different way to use your weights. If possible, substitute kettlebells or other devices for free weights.
You can also try spreading out your workouts throughout the day as short 10-minute workouts on occasion.
5. Create a New Goal. If you're getting bored, consider setting a new exercise goal for yourself. Perhaps you want to participate in your first 5K race, or perhaps you want to join a local adult sports team such as baseball, basketball, or tennis. If you've always wanted to improve your swimming, you could enroll in adult lessons and set a goal, such as swimming a certain number of laps continuously.
Setting a new goal can help you feel revitalized and excited about exercising while also allowing you to work on new skills.

The most important step is to find types of exercise that get you moving and make you feel rejuvenated—they're out there! To find them, you may need to think outside the box, try new things, and step out of your comfort zone once or twice. The benefit is that you'll find joy and peace in exercising while also knowing you're helping your health
So, whether you dread working out, are looking for new ways to get started, or are bored with your current routine, try one (or more) of these five strategies to inject some fun into your workouts.
